1 week agoWe are having another Lebanese evening following the success of the last one.
The date will be Saturday 10th May. Early booking is advised as we are sure to be full.
£20.00 a head including a free drink.
4 weeks agoThe first two Jazz Jams have been really great. About 10 musicians turned up with saxophones, clarinets, drums, keyboard and guitar. The standard of musicianship was excellent and the music very easy listening. There can’t be many opportunities to listen to such good music free of charge (and even join in if you feel so inclined!!)
Come along on the first Sunday of May to see for yourself
2 months agoWe now have a dart board, (and a light!!)
Unfortunately as the only place with a high enough ceiling for the board was in the restaurant we can only play on Sunday and Monday nights (and possibly Tuesday nights if we are not too busy) but we thought that was better than nothing so come along and have a game. Once we have all had a practise we may even get competitive!!
3 months agoOur monthly charity quizzes continue to be really popular and great fun.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Save the Children quiz in January. £306.00 was raised. Around was £500 was raised for the Northmoor Trust in February. Thank you
Since then we have raised money for Power International, a charity raising money to help disabled people in poor countries.
Our quiz for May is on Monday 26th May and is being organised by and raising money for Brightwell Junior Cricket Team. This is sure to be a very popular quiz so do book to make sure you get a table. Thanks
3 months agoWell it’s been six months since we took over the Red Lion and as predicted
it’s been a steep learning curve. Although I’m sure we still have a lot to learn, I think we are getting the hang of this pub malarkey!
Thank you to everyone who came for a meal in the early days and came back! The kitchen is a lot more settled now, the cooking being shared between Sally, who cooks great traditional English food and Youmna, who is from the Lebanon and is particularly talented at North African and Mediterranean dishes (as anyone who came to our Moroccan evenings will testify!)
I am really grateful to Alison who had worked here with Bill for some time and was invaluable in helping us get started and is staying on the team as ‘reserve chef’.
Sandrine Arnould
Sandrine will be continuing her informal French conversation lessons this term on Monday and Tuesday mornings. £10.00 an hour including a cup of our delicious coffee.
All levels of French catered for.
The lessons last term seemed fun, in fact from what I could see there was far too much laughter going on for it to be educational!!!
Ring Sandrine for more information 01491 834 699 or 07737 444 350.
